Deb Harris, board president of the Southside Community Association, read the proclamation and outlined a week of Juneteenth events — including an art exhibition, a gala and a free street festival — and said the association aims to keep the festival family friendly and accessible. The board voted to provide $10,000 from community initiative funds to support the Juneteenth gala and street festival.
The board also approved $8,500 in community initiative funding for Northern Arizona Pride Association’s 30th annual Pride in the Pines festival. Zayn Jacobs, the festival president, said the 30th‑anniversary festival will include a free public day with about 150 vendors and a parade set to begin downtown on June 20.
Separately, supervisors awarded $2,650 to the Navajo Voters Coalition’s conference to support voter-education work and registration efforts across northern Arizona.
Board members praised organizers for their community work and underscored the county’s support for diverse cultural and civic events.
