Board approves Title I, II, IV and Title III applications and reviews large grant portfolio

Dr. McDaniel and the grant team described funds from several sources including a three‑year All‑In Virginia allocation totaling $1.9 million used for tutoring, learning acceleration, literacy implementation, attendance recovery and infrastructure.
Miss Cox presented the Title I, II and IV applications for the 2026–27 school year and explained the district’s needs assessment and priorities. Title I would continue to support schoolwide personnel (three reading specialists, five literacy pair‑of‑professionals and part of a grant coordinator salary) under a level‑funded application (~$430,000 initially submitted). Title II funding would support the K‑12 math instructional coach. Title IV funds are proposed to create a Bell Heath after‑school enrichment program—"Well‑Rounded Bobcat"—with six‑to‑eight week sessions offering music lessons, STEM, drama, fitness and other enrichment activities; stipends and materials would be paid from the grant.
Later in the meeting the board voted to approve the Title I/II/IV applications and then separately approved the Title III application for English learners. The grants team said they will submit amendments in the fall if final allocations increase.
