Lincoln County OKs application for $20,000 NDOT overtime grant for Nebraska Land Days

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners voted to authorize the chair to sign a Nebraska Department of Transportation selective overtime enforcement mini‑grant application and award to reimburse added deputy overtime during Nebraska Land Days.
Deputy Chris McCaulay told the board the county requested $20,000 to support focused enforcement on alcohol‑related offenses and traffic safety from June 15–30; the grant operates on a reimbursement model and the state may award less than the requested amount. “You log the time and then essentially you send it in and up to $20,000 you get reimbursed,” McCaulay said.
Commissioners praised the sheriff’s office for pursuing outside funding to increase patrols during a busy period and approved the application on a unanimous roll call. Staff will submit the application and, if awarded, track and submit overtime hours for reimbursement to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
