Van Buren County awards $1.98 million contract to Norris Asphalt for W46 resurfacing

The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors voted May 11, 2026 to accept a $1,976,768.88 bid from NORRIS ASPHALT PAVING CO., LC for HMA resurfacing of Route W46 from the Farmington city limits north to J40.

On motion by Supervisor House and seconded by Supervisor Meek, the Board approved Resolution #05-11-2026, which affirms the project (FM-C089(110)--55-89) and states the Board's finding that the work is in the county's interest. The resolution records that the Board sought professional guidance, followed Iowa Code requirements for notifications and bidding, and received concurrence from the Lee County Board of Supervisors. The resolution also directs that, after receipt of all necessary contract documents, including the contractor's bond and certificate of insurance, County Engineer Ryne Thornburg be authorized to execute the contracts on the Board's behalf.
