President Jacob opened the meeting by walking attendees through the project's timeline: the village accepted ARPA funding in April 2021 (about $1.1 million), solicited architectural proposals in 2022, selected an architect by resolution in April 2023, and approved construction bids in February 2024. A groundbreaking ceremony was held July 9, 2024, and contractors Bear Construction and W (architectural services) worked on the remodel; the remaining office-side renovation will proceed while staff temporarily relocates to the new chamber.
Engineers reported that Bear Contracting and W are addressing punch-list items and that road and infrastructure projects coordinated with IDOT are moving toward construction. The village engineer said IDOT-approved road contracts will bring short-term daytime closures on some routes, and the board was awaiting an intergovernmental agreement draft with IDOT concerning the Route 22 project.
