Norton King's Daughters updates Jefferson County Council on EMS project; June groundbreaking planned

Representatives of Norton King's Daughters Hospital Foundation visited the Jefferson County Council to update members on the county's EMS facility project. Rachel Sharbaugh, speaking for the foundation, and Jane Williams, identified as director of EMS, said the project team anticipates a June groundbreaking and is coordinating community involvement and fundraising.
Sharbaugh said Bethany Legacy will partner on a groundbreaking ceremony and that the foundation has continued conversations with county officials since a facilities tour last year. She asked council members to expect a commissioner recommendation to come forward after the commission's next meeting. "We would just like to make sure you guys have some updated information...we are currently looking forward to a June groundbreaking," Sharbaugh said.
Council members asked procedural questions about whether a formal recommendation from the commissioners would come to the council and were told that staff expect to present a recommendation after the commissioners conclude their next meeting. The presenter said the foundation and EMS director are available to meet with county members and answer technical or timing questions.
The council did not take formal fiscal action on the EMS presentation tonight; members thanked the presenters and encouraged continued coordination between the foundation, EMS leadership and county staff.
