Mitchell County commissioners approve budget amendment, auditor contract and RFQs for FEMA-funded repairs

The contract must be submitted to and approved by the Local Government Commission before the auditor can begin certain work; commissioners approved placing the contract and authorized submission to the commission.
RFQs for FEMA projects: The board separately authorized three requests for qualifications to carry out FEMA-funded work: (1) athletic fields restoration (about $2 million in FEMA funds cited for field reconstruction and design/administration), (2) hazard-mitigation engineering to repair stream/erosion impacts around the fields (about $1 million cited), and (3) engineering for damaged water points used by fire districts (about $150,000 cited). Each RFQ motion passed by voice vote.
