Superintendent: jingle jog raised funds for students; UF to observe UFly classrooms

The superintendent told the Hardee County School Board on Jan. 8 that a staff "jingle jog" held before Christmas raised "a little over $1,000," money the district returned to student activities and that participants chose to give to Hilltop Elementary.
The superintendent described the event as a staff wellness activity rather than a formal fundraiser and said proceeds were reinvested in student clubs and activities. A board member clarified during the discussion that motion coordinators organized the event and that one board member had only served as a judge.
The superintendent also said representatives from the University of Florida will visit district schools on Monday to observe UFly implementation in kindergarten, first and second grades at Wula Elementary and North Wula. The district will observe classrooms, debrief with the UF team and receive coaching on next steps for implementing the program.
Board members asked for a follow-up update at a future meeting after the observation and debriefing. The board then moved on to remaining agenda items and adjourned at about 5:08 p.m.
