The Hardee County School Board voted Jan. 8 to approve several routine items: the Dec. 11, 2025 minutes, a rideaway easement requested by Peace River Electric Cooperative Inc., a facility-use permit for Hardee County Youth Sports and the consent agenda.
Board member Dr. Sharp moved to approve the Dec. 11 minutes and Mr. Smith seconded; the roll call (Marie, Mr. Smith, Dr. Sharp, Miss Cornell and the presiding officer) voted in favor. The board then considered an easement request from Peace River Electric Cooperative to permit the utility "to provide service." A board member disclosed a conflict of interest and recused herself from that vote; the remaining members approved the easement (motion by Mr. Smith, second by Dr. Sharp). The easement was described in the meeting as enabling Peace River Electric to access district property to provide service.
The board also approved a request from Hardee County Youth Sports to use district softball fields from Jan. 12, 2026, through March 31, 2026, contingent on receipt of a certificate of insurance for those dates. The facilities motion was moved by Miss Cornell and seconded by Dr. Sharp and passed on a roll call that included Miss Dasher.
Finally, the board approved the consent agenda (motion by Miss Cornell, second by Mr. Smith) and noted upcoming dates including the next regular meeting on Jan. 22 and the teacher and ESP-of-the-year banquet on Jan. 13. The meeting adjourned at about 5:08 p.m.
