Joplin City board extends several property cases to July 25; multiple continuances carried

At a recent meeting, the Joplin City board moved and carried extensions for multiple property enforcement items, scheduling progress reports or demolition hearings for July 25.
Early in the meeting a committee member moved to extend item 3118 (115 North Galena Avenue) to the July 25 agenda for a progress report and demolition hearing; the motion was seconded and carried. Staff then introduced a range of other properties, providing short status updates: 230 South Oak (owner pulled a permit the previous day and listed the project valuation at $5,000), 2408 West 4th (owners submitted a floor plan that lacks required dimensions and mechanical locations), 1248 South Roosevelt (owner working on windows and yard but has appeared multiple times), and 1909 West 15th (foundation footing holding water and repeated agenda appearances).
For each of these items a motion to continue to July 25 was made, seconded and approved by the board. The board also resolved a numbering/photo discrepancy and rescinded and refiled motions to correctly extend 701 South McKinley (item 3124) and 405 West 2nd / 126 South Pearl (item 3123) to the July 25 meeting. Staff noted one owner had received an insurance payout and therefore was ineligible for an ARPA grant; the board discussed whether to schedule a hearing if the owner fails to engage.

The board adjourned after moving to continue the remaining items.
