Granville County commissioners approved several procurement and property actions at the May 4 meeting, including a one‑year contract renewal with Thompson Price Scott Adams & Company to perform the annual fiscal audit for $52,750 and awarding a design contract for the GC Holly recreational master plan to Surface 678 (not to exceed $163,145).
Staff explained Surface 678 was selected from 22 proposals following interviews and that the project will use the county’s standard design services contract; Surface 678 is a certified MBE firm based in Durham. The board authorized the county manager to execute the contract once finalized by the county attorney.
The board also approved using a charitable trust gift to fund replacement of flooring at the Oxford Senior Center, awarding a not‑to‑exceed contract to AB Hair Carpets for $28,382, with funding available in the Senior Services account. In separate business, the board approved a real estate purchase agreement to acquire 108 Watkins Street in Oxford for $100,000 to consolidate downtown county property for future space planning.
All procurement and purchase actions passed on motions and voice votes; staff said they plan to issue an RFP for audit services in the next fiscal year as best practice for auditor independence and competitive pricing.
