Hillsborough County commissioners declared April as Water Conservation Month and designated May 17–23 as Florida Water Reuse Week to promote resident education about ways to conserve Florida’s water resources, county communications staff said.
Katie, with Hillsborough County Communications and Digital Media, said the county is encouraging Florida‑friendly landscaping and noted the Southwest Florida Water Management District promotes conservation through educational efforts, community outreach, water‑use restrictions, agency partnerships and the construction of reclaimed water systems.
The declarations are intended as educational measures; the meeting recap did not attach new county regulations or enforcement measures to the observances and directed residents to county and district resources for tips on water‑saving practices.
