School board approves 364-day suspension and conditional reenrollment after closed session

The Franklin County School Board on Nov. 10 voted to suspend an anonymously identified student for 364 days and to conditionally reinstate a second student after completing a closed-session disciplinary review.

Board members moved and seconded the two motions at the start of the meeting following a roll call. The suspension for “Student A” was approved by affirmative voice/roll call votes from Miss Greer, Mr. Holly, Mr. AG, Miss Sloum, Dr. David and Mr. Worley; the suspension is effective retroactively to Oct. 24, 2025. A separate motion to allow “Student B” to reenroll was approved on the condition that the student’s family provide the necessary documentation for enrollment; that reenrollment was made effective immediately on Nov. 25, 2025, pending those documents.

The motions were announced as formal actions coming out of closed session; no additional public details about allegations, the specific schools involved, or underlying incidents were disclosed during the open meeting. The board handled both items by motion, second and roll-call affirmation.

Because the board discussed these matters in closed session and identified the students only as “Student A” and “Student B,” the board record and the public discussion deliberately omit names to protect privacy. The board did not provide further public explanation at the meeting about supportive services, appeals procedures, or next steps for either student.
