The Clatsop County Board of Commissioners authorized the county manager to sign an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the Oregon Health Authority that provides $229,364 to the county Department of Public Health under the Rural Health Transformation program.
"The federal government provided a chunk of money to the state, last July... we turned in a plan the May 15, and the funding came in on the May 18," a county public-health presenter told the board, explaining the rapid schedule for implementation. Staff said the purpose of the funds is to increase Spanish-language services and related capacity in local public-health programs, and that the county expects the funding to support multi-year work if additional awards remain available.
The board moved and seconded a resolution authorizing the county manager to sign IGA 185804-8 for $229,364 and approved the action by voice vote. Staff noted the award is a carve-out from a larger Rural Health Transformation allocation to 33 local public-health authorities and that work already done on community health needs assessments and collaborative plans allowed the county to meet the program’s short reporting timelines.
Commissioners thanked staff for the rapid submission and noted the award will be used to align county public-health work with the community health improvement plan and local hospitals and partners. No public comment was offered on the item.
