Ashley Lamb elected president as Toms River Regional Schools board swears in new members

The Toms River Regional School District board of education opened its regular meeting with the swearing-in of newly elected members and the selection of new leadership.
Mr. Burns administered the oath of office to new board members Kathleen Egan (Township), Katie Coin (Beachwood Township) and Kevin Kney (Pine Beach Township), who each recited the oath affirming support for the U.S. and New Jersey constitutions and their duty to perform the office faithfully. "I do solemnly swear," was repeated as each new member took the oath.
The board then handled reorganization. Board member Kathleen Egan moved to open nominations for president; Jubert seconded. Ashley Lamb was nominated and, after nominations were closed, a roll-call vote recorded "yes" for Matarazzo, Jubert, Coin, Egan, Kidney, Capone and Lamb, resulting in Lamb's election as board president. Shortly afterward, nominations for vice president produced the unanimous appointment of James Capone by the same roll-call sequence.
Earlier in the meeting, the board approved a motion to have election results affixed to the minutes; that motion carried after a vote that recorded one opposed. The board opened public comment under board policy 0167 (public participation) but recorded no speakers, then moved to adjourn.
The meeting notice had been published in the Asbury Park Press (Dec. 24, 2025) and the Star-Ledger (Dec. 22, 2025) to meet the notice requirements of the Open Public Meetings Act. The board announced committee meetings scheduled for the following week.
