The board appointed Supervisors Bone and Bushnell as the county’s two representatives on the ad hoc committee; staff from the County Administrative Office and Public Works will also participate.
Supervisor Aoyo and several members of the public expressed support for preserving fair operations and emphasized the cultural and economic importance of the events hosted at the fairgrounds. Staff clarified that negotiations would be limited in scope and that any substantive changes to county facilities policy or capital outcomes would be returned to the full board for direction.
What’s next: the ad hoc committee will negotiate terms over the next six months and report back to the full board; the board approved a six‑month extension of the fair board’s contract to allow those negotiations to proceed.
