At its May meeting the Joplin Board of Appeals extended a slate of demolition hearings and permit items to its June 27 agenda and released several near-complete projects from further review.
Contractor Jason Wyke reported interior and exterior progress at 512 West 20th and the board moved to continue that item to June 27 for a progress report and demolition hearing. Bridal Hale said engineering reports are complete for the 1608 South Minnesota project, which is in a floodway; the board continued that matter to allow engineering sign-offs and permit application work to proceed.
The board also continued items for properties on South Byers, West 4th, South Roosevelt, North Pearl and other addresses to June 27 for progress reports and possible demolition hearings. In contrast, inspectors reported that 1616 South Pearl (item 3085) and 2341 East Zora (item 3119) are progressing and those items were released from the agenda.
On permit sequencing, staff reminded owners that HVAC/mechanical rough-ins must pass before permanent electric is authorized; that requirement formed part of the board’s decision to extend a permit for 519 North Winfield with an August 22 permit-extension date for final completion of HVAC work.
The board handled the routine minute-review and adjourned following the motion by Mr. Wicklund.
