Harlandale ISD recommends new secondary math materials, including $3.03M for precalculus

Harlandale ISD staff told trustees they are recommending new instructional materials for secondary math that would govern classroom resources for the next adoption cycle.
"All Harlandale Secondary Math Teachers under adoption were invited to attend publishers presentations of state-adopted materials," Miss Casey said, describing the committee process. After committee review, staff reported the adoption committee selected Agile Minds for Algebra 2 and Geometry for 2026–2031 at a total of $182,487.76 funded through the Instructional Materials and Technology Allotment (IMTA). "They also had the highest percentage of votes at 70%," she added.
For precalculus, McGraw Hill was the only vendor to submit materials; staff recommended purchasing McGraw Hill for 2026–2031 at $3,031,944.45, also funded through IMTA. Miss Casey said professional development is included with purchases and district coordinators will provide training: "Our secondary coordinator will be providing PD... there is a professional development package that's included with our purchase."
Trustees asked whether training and implementation supports were planned; Miss Casey confirmed the district will schedule professional development before the school year and will monitor adoption outcomes.
The recommendation was presented as information during the work session; the board will consider formal approval at an upcoming meeting.
