Polco's executive vice president of data and insights presented the results of a 2025 employee survey for Powhatan County during the March 23 meeting, telling the board that 196 employees (66% response rate) completed the National Employee Survey and that most measures met or exceeded national benchmarks.
Sonia Wieting of Polco told the board that of 83 evaluative items, 43 scored higher than the national benchmark, 38 were similar and two scored lower. "This result reflects a very high-performing organization," Wieting said, and she highlighted high marks for employee development, organizational climate and safety. Nearly nine in 10 employees rated the county as a good place to work and live, and most said they planned to be working for the county a year from now.
Polco noted areas for further attention: slightly lower ratings were reported for the overall quality of county services and whether the county acts in the best interest of the community. Wieting recommended using the survey as a baseline for targeted improvements and follow-up measures.
What happens next: Polco said the full report would be made available to staff and the board. Several supervisors thanked Polco for the presentation; no board action was required. The survey results will inform internal discussions about workforce retention, compensation perception and public‑facing service quality.
