Trustees approved a design engineering contract with Strand Associates for the Hampton Avenue–Santa Monica intersection improvement project, a safety‑oriented program where about 90% of design costs are federally funded and the village will cover roughly the remaining local share (net cost to village about $13,977).
Staff said the project will proceed through public information meetings and that the village is leading design though coordination with the City of Milwaukee is expected because a portion of the intersection falls inside Milwaukee municipal boundaries. Trustees asked about funding stability; staff said the village is proceeding with design now and will address construction funding and WisDOT approvals later.
Board approval allows the village to begin a year‑plus design process and public engagement before returning to the board for final construction approvals.
