Trustees discussed how filtering accuracy should be handled, whether staff should have formal authority to grant unblocking requests, how to incorporate AI‑related considerations and how printing and mobile device use should be managed (for example, time limits based on availability rather than fixed intervals).
Using board feedback, Phillips said staff will draft a revised policy and return it for review at the June meeting. No vote or formal action was taken at the May meeting; the discussion was a direction to staff to prepare proposed revisions.
Next steps: staff will prepare a draft policy that separates policy from operating procedure, identifies statutory references, and proposes staff roles for handling filtering and unblocking requests.
