Whitefish Bay public works staff updated the committee on multiple infrastructure projects, saying Sendex project contractors are mobilizing and that visible construction will begin on Bowmont and Lake Drive late this month into early May.
Staff said signal equipment delivery is in progress but decorative light poles have longer lead times, so temporary signal solutions may be used initially. Silver Spring work is planned to begin after Artfest and the Fourth of July parade to avoid disrupting the events; staff said they are meeting with affected businesses and event organizers.
On renewable energy, staff reported the DPW solar hardware is installed and final commissioning was expected this week or the next; they will check with vendor Arch Solar about providing an online dashboard that reports instantaneous generation data. Staff also noted that some signal and median work will affect access near commercial entrances and that contractors were made aware of these constraints during procurement.
What’s next: staff will continue coordinating procurement, vendor interviews for design work, the Sendex mobilization and temporary traffic plans; they said they will return with updated schedules and any procurement recommendations to the village board as required.
