The New Kent County Board of Supervisors approved a change order and a bond appropriation for county water projects at its June 8 meeting.
Mr. Lang requested approval of change order #1 for the Colonies water system renovation in the amount of $81,883.50, explaining a temporary pumping system initially used proved inadequate and was replaced by a better solution; the change included electrical conduit value engineering and no additional appropriation was required. The board authorized the county administrator to approve the change order and voted unanimously to adopt the motion.
Separately the board adopted a resolution to appropriate $9,411,942.29 in proceeds from the 2026A bond issuance to fund construction of the Brookshire (Brickshaw) elevated water tank, associated water line and closing costs. Trip Lawrence said the board had previously approved the borrowing and this action moves the bond proceeds to project expense lines; the board voted to appropriate the funds by unanimous roll call.
No members of the public spoke against the measures during those hearings.
