Board recognizes graduate and celebrates auditor award and new grants

At its June 10 meeting, the Cuyahoga Falls board presented a high-school diploma to Wayne Edward Lefield and accepted recognition from the Ohio Auditor of State: the district received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for fiscal year 2025, reflecting no findings for recovery and no management-letter concerns.
The district’s treasurer said the award is relatively rare and thanked staff for their work on public records, finance compliance and internal controls. The treasurer noted the award requires a high level of compliance and that the district earlier missed the designation for reasons outside its control.
Separately, the superintendent reported six teacher grants totaling about $53,000 for next school year. The superintendent also described a new community grant from the American Endowment Foundation valued at $100,000 (possibly up to $120,000) to support student-led food-security and sustainability projects. The foundation grant will purchase a “high tunnel” greenhouse and other equipment; the superintendent said the project could produce an additional 2,000 pounds of fresh produce annually for the district’s cafeteria and involve students in operations.
The board congratulated staff and thanked donors and partnering organizations; the superintendent said the foundation will be asked to present to the board in July.
