Board approves personnel actions and a slate of contracts including assessment-tool change

The Cuyahoga Falls City School District board on June 10 approved the superintendent’s consent agenda, which included routine personnel actions, the administrator contract for John Kinsey as assistant principal, and multiple contract renewals and replacements.
The superintendent summarized hires, resignations and volunteer coaching assignments and asked the board to approve renewals and new contracts that district staff said would both serve students and lower costs. Among the contracts highlighted was a proposed replacement of the Panorama platform with Rethink Ed, which district staff said would save roughly $13,000. The superintendent told the board staff had reviewed data-sharing and would secure appropriate consent measures before using a data portal that allows universities to access GPA, ACT and related information to facilitate admissions outreach.
The board also considered curriculum- and assessment-related renewals: Gallipade for social studies (described as a supplement, not a replacement for textbooks), translation services and vendor renewals for therapies and alternative-placement providers. A proposed three-year contract for occupational therapists was presented with an estimated district saving of more than $30,000 over the term.
The board moved and approved the superintendent’s consent agenda by roll call. The appointment of Mr. John Kinsey as assistant principal was approved; Kinsey was not present at the meeting and will attend in July.
District officials said they will monitor the December presentation comparing data produced by the new assessment tool to ensure quality and to confirm the anticipated savings do not degrade useful instructional information.
