Richmond pins Clayton Stalker as assistant police chief with board approval

Mayor and department leaders praised Stalker's 15 years of service, noting his promotions from patrol officer to sergeant (2019), lieutenant (2022) and major, his role as emergency response unit member for 11 years and completion of leadership training. Chief presenters recommended the appointment and the board voted to adopt the order during the meeting.
Sergeant Lane performed the pinning ceremony at the dais and Stalker thanked colleagues and city leaders for the trust placed in him. "Thank you for the trust that you put in me," Stalker said, adding he had not aspired to the role but looks forward to supporting officers and fulfilling their mission.
The motion to bring the order to the floor was moved and seconded and the clerk recorded affirmative votes from Commissioners Brewer, Cole, Goel, Newbie and the mayor, carrying the appointment.
