Plan Commission to hold June 24 listening session on data center regulations

Commission staff told the Redevelopment Commission that the Plan Commission will host a public listening session on data center regulations on June 24. The listening session will follow the regular Plan Commission meeting (which begins at 7:00 p.m.) and is expected to start roughly 7:15–7:30 p.m.
Staff said the session is intended as an open forum rather than a formal public hearing: staff and the Plan Commission will give a brief presentation of research to date and then invite public ideas and feedback on what community members want for data-center siting and scale. The planning president, Brent Emery, will preside; staff noted a likely comment cutoff (staff suggested a 10:00 p.m. cap) if public comment becomes lengthy.
Officials encouraged broad public participation to surface concerns early and avoid polarized confrontation later in the regulatory process. The Plan Commission will use collected input to shape further regulatory work on data centers.
