During project updates on June 9, staff reported two active inquiries related to the Project Freedom parcel. A prior letter of intent remains under negotiation after the commission replied with proposed changes; separately, a second, unrelated party submitted a letter of intent expressing interest in approximately 30 acres of the site.
Staff said the second letter covers only part of the parcel and that the county will wait for a response from the current prospective tenant or buyer before advancing discussions with the new party. Commissioners clarified the primary parcel is about 120 acres and that an adjacent wooded triangle could expand the total to roughly 150 acres; staff said it was unclear whether the additional wooded portion would be retained or marketed separately.
The commission also discussed coordinating road access and spacing near industrial sites (including Lear and XL) and emphasized continued outreach to owners to resolve negotiations and any necessary easement or acquisition options.
