Williston approves emergency police office partitions and electronic access controls

The Williston Board of City Commissioners on July 23 approved emergency purchases for the Williston Police Department: partitions for four records-section employees ($19,546.21, low quote from Innovative) and an electronic access control system for off-site facilities ($25,840 from Innova Integrated Solutions Inc.). The purchases were funded from the Police Auction & Forfeitures Fund (Fund 246).
Chief of Police David Peterson described partitions as necessary to improve productivity, privacy and noise reduction in a high-traffic records area. "They work in a high traffic area, and they are dealing with sensitive information, and this is important," Commissioner James Bervig said in support. The access control upgrade was presented as a response to frozen combination locks and to enable key-card access, monitoring and rapid suspension of access when needed.
Commissioners voted to approve $19,546.21 for partitions and $25,840 for access control, citing an available cash balance in the Police Auction & Forfeitures Fund (noted at $173,638.83 as of July). The motions were moved by Commissioner Bervig and seconded by Commissioner Siemieniewski and carried 5–0.
The purchases were authorized under non-competitive procurement for the access control hardware because it was described as uniquely compatible with the city's existing Innova system. City staff identified Fund 246 as the funding source and will proceed with procurement and installation.
