Whitefish Bay awards $242,265 tree-planting and EAB contract to Cut and Go Trees LLC

The Village Board approved a contract award on March 17 for the 2025 EAB tree planting and park beautification project, accepting a low bid from Cut and Go Trees LLC.
Village staff told trustees the packaged bid, which incorporated an MMSD grant, combines removals, stump grinding, planting and restorations in parks and along streets. Staff said the low bid was $242,265 and estimated the campaign will include over 105 EAB replacement trees and more than 750 trees in total across 2025 and 2026 work.
Trustees asked about specifications requiring a certified arborist on site and why the winning bid was substantially lower than other offers. Staff said Cut and Go’s business model likely reduced subcontractor overhead and that the contract specifications still require certified-arborist oversight as part of the contract documents.
A trustee moved to award the contract to Cut and Go Trees LLC, the board seconded the motion and voted to approve the award.
Staff said wood from removed ash trees will be repurposed in small quantities for library-park uses and that the village will follow state quarantine guidance for handling EAB-infected material as required by state rules.
