President Buckley read the resolution’s language, noting that public-works employees are responsible for infrastructure, water supply, wastewater collection, stormwater management, solid waste and recycling systems, public buildings and parks. Trustees praised the village Department of Public Works and specifically commended Matt for his work since joining the department roughly 14–15 months ago, citing responsiveness to residents and management of multiple projects.
The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote. No public comments were recorded during that agenda item.
What’s next: the proclamation is largely ceremonial but signals the board’s endorsement of DPW staff and will coincide with National Public Works Week activities sponsored by the American Public Works Association.
