The City of Erie Zoning Hearing Board on June 9 denied a request to change a nonconforming use from a personal service to retail for the property at 2690 Cherry Street (appeal 13336) after no one appeared to represent the applicant at the continued hearing.
Solicitor Lydia Caperosa explained the case had been continued from the May 12 meeting and that the attorney of record was Craig Zona on behalf of property owner Zakaria Hassan. The board confirmed no representative was present and proceeded to a decision. A motion to deny the requested use change was made and seconded; the board voted to deny the application, with board members recording votes in favor of denying the change.
The denial closes the continued matter on the hearing record; staff noted the board would move on to remaining appeals and announced a staffing matter after the vote.
