Boca Raton interviews candidates for historic preservation and parks boards

The Boca Raton City Council heard interviews on Tuesday from applicants seeking appointments to the Historic Preservation Board and the Parks & Recreation Board.
Julie Botello Talarico, who said she has lived in Boca Raton for 40 years and Old Floresta for 25, asked to be reappointed to the Historic Preservation Board and cited more than five years on the board and her Florida building-contractor license (CBC058106) as relevant experience.
Benjamin Schreier, a registered architect with Affinity Architects in Boca Raton, described professional experience assessing drawings and said he could contribute planning and architectural expertise for Old Floresta and Pearl City historic districts. Frank Boros, a long-time Boca resident and former Community Relations Board member, emphasized local knowledge and continuity.
For Parks & Recreation, Brianna Hanquist described herself as an outspoken parks and wildlife advocate who led opposition to a proposed change at Sugar Sand Park and asked council to focus on fee schedules, facilities conditions, and preserving wildlife. Mickey Gomez said he would resign from the Civil Service Board if appointed, and cited decades of parks-and-recreation leadership, including serving as a parks director and involvement in state and national professional associations.
The council closed interviews and said it would make appointments during the regular meeting later in the day.
