The Village Manager presented the first quarterly progress report on the strategic plan adopted in fall 2024 and shared an implementation timeline the management team developed to pace work across three years. The Manager said the next report will include key outcome indicators and targets, but tonight’s presentation focused on the implementation Gantt chart and sequencing.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about several items. One trustee noted that the entry labeled to “establish bike and pedestrian safety program” appeared to conflict with ongoing efforts and suggested changing the language to reflect implementation rather than initial establishment. On staffing, a trustee asked why the staffing analysis was scheduled late (starting in 2027 in the chart) and suggested an earlier or department-by-department approach; the Manager and other staff said some departments have already begun ad hoc evaluations and that a full benchmarking staffing analysis is a large, multi-year effort.
Board members also discussed communication-plan updates (beyond social media) and noted opportunities to use utility-bill inserts, the website and the newsletter to reach residents not on social platforms. Staff said signage for Library Park is not part of the MMSD-funded work but that in-house graphics support exists and that small interpretive placards could be procured separately.
No votes or formal actions were taken on the strategic-plan materials; trustees offered advice to staff on wording and sequencing and were invited to provide further comments by email.
