The Lake County 911 Authority announced awards for dispatch staff at its Jan. 9 meeting.
Daniela Duran Gonzalez was named Dispatcher of the Year. Sarah Beard and others cited Daniela’s reliability, willingness to take on extra shifts and assistance to first responders as reasons for the selection: "she's always very helpful... and she's very clearly demonstrated ... willingness to take on more responsibility," Sarah said.
Mary received the Call Taker of the Year award for her handling of a drowning call; staff praised her calm demeanor and clear communication under pressure, noting the agency did not yet have full EMD capability at the time of the call. "Even though she had just gone through EMD of Colorado training, we didn't have the ability to EMD... she was able to really keep that caller informed," the director said.
The awards will be presented at a law-enforcement year-end celebration that evening, with staff planning brief remarks explaining the nominations and incidents that supported the selections.
What’s next: presentation of plaques at the scheduled banquet and public recognition of awardees.
