The Pendleton County Schools board approved personnel actions including three resignations, multiple hires, a professional continuing contract and appointment of a non-paid coach during a regularly scheduled meeting.
The board listed resignations and retirements of Jolene Mitchell (substitute teacher), effective June 2, 2026; Derek Lambert, principal at Pendleton County Middle/High School, effective June 30, 2026; and Kathy Gowen (substitute teacher), effective May 29, 2026. The superintendent recommended acceptance of the resignations; a board member moved, another seconded, and the board approved the recommendation by voice vote.
The board approved the employment of Dane Davis as extracurricular high school assistant golf coach at Pendleton County Middle/High School; David Simon and Robert Keysacker as bus operator supplemental contracts for the South Branch Vocational Career and Technical Center; and Laura Brown as English language arts teacher for grades 7–12 at Pendleton County Middle/High School. The superintendent presented the hires and the board approved them by voice vote.
The board also approved a professional continuing contract for Lindsey Props as presented, and approved Matthew Kyle as a non-paid golf coach for the 2026–2027 season. Board members asked whether the non-paid coach would cover varsity and JV; a board member confirmed "It's both" and that he will manage the whole program.
Motions were made and seconded for each personnel item; votes were taken by voice with the chair calling for "aye" and no opposing votes recorded in the transcript.
