Majority Leader Carbone moved adoption of the resolution and asked the House to stand in respectful silence. “Walt, our brother, we share this at this time, we share your pain,” Majority Leader Carbone said in offering condolences on behalf of the chamber.
Chairman Blackman addressed members after the resolution passed. “I have wrote something for my son, Daniel. I decided not to read it,” the chairman said, describing the family’s gratitude for the chamber’s support and the foundation planned to continue his son’s legacy. He thanked members for the flag flown over the state capitol and said the family would place it in his office.
Members offered additional brief personal remarks. Representative Allen, a longtime friend, described Daniel as “the sweetest boy” and recalled his volunteering and quiet service to the community.
The House instructed the clerk to record the action, sign the resolution, and convey the measure to the secretary of state.
