Representative McGauley expressed concern about addiction and dispensing on the Navajo Nation and asked whether stricter warnings or dispensing practices could be implemented through Indian Health Service on reservations. Magali responded that Indian Health Service is a federal issue but offered to research possibilities and provide more information. Representative Patty Contreras asked whether the measure or a predecessor had been heard previously; Magali said an earlier bill (22725) failed in Health and Human Services and did not advance.
