La Paz County abandons water‑retention easement affecting Rancho Estate Lot 65

La Paz County supervisors voted June 1 to approve Resolution No. 2026‑14, abandoning an easement that had been recorded in 2007 for a water retention pond encumbering Lot 65 in Rancho Estate Subdivision Unit 1.
A representative for the property owners told the board the easement (recorded as No. 2000‑07‑4600) was granted to La Paz County by Meta Investments but the pond was never built. County engineering and public works reviewed the easement and concluded constructing the retention pond now would provide minimal benefit to existing drainage and flood control. The property owners had submitted plans to build a residence on Lot 65, and community development staff said permit approval was on hold pending resolution of the easement.
The chair moved to approve the abandonment, a supervisor seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
