Staff presented a proposed update to the county procurement policy developed with an outside consultant. The county attorney's office reviewed the draft and identified concerns that the update lengthened and complicated the existing policy and might run afoul of state procurement requirements. A county attorney representative recommended staff, legal and finance meet to refine the draft and compare it to state regulations and peer counties.
The board unanimously directed that the draft be reviewed by the county attorney and revised with input from finance and administration before it is returned for board consideration. No action to adopt the policy was taken at this meeting; staff will bring back a revised, streamlined version after legal review.
