Lewisburg council confirms water-board appointment and hears several first readings

The Lewisburg City Council on June 9 approved several routine actions and first readings alongside other agenda business.
Appointment: The council approved Mayor Jim Bingham's recommendation to appoint Paul Taylor to the Lewisburg Water and Wastewater Board for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2026. The motion was moved and seconded and passed on roll call.
Naming resolution: The council approved Resolution 26-13 to name the basketball court at Jones Park "Lewis Connor Court," following a favorable recommendation from the parks and recreation board.
First readings and fees: Council approved first readings of ordinance 26-06 (an amendment to the current fiscal-year budget, July 1, 2025'June 30, 2026), ordinance 26-08 (authorize the city manager to set pet boarding/permanent boarding fees not to exceed $20 per day), and ordinance 26-09 (amend the electronic citation fee section and renumber subsections). Each item carried on roll call.
All routine items passed by roll call votes at the June 9 meeting. The council also heard the city manager's report about a new merit evaluation system for employees and confirmed director reports will be posted on the city website under Public Notice.
