The Enumclaw School Board announced May 18 that the district selected Dr. Mark Wenzel as its next superintendent after a multi‑month national search that included community forums, surveys and candidate campus visits.
The chair described the search as extensive and thanked staff, students and community members for input. The chair said finalists spent full days on campus meeting district leaders and students; the chair thanked staff members (including Stacy) for lengthy support during the process.
Board members said community survey responses — described in the meeting as “hundreds” of comments — helped drive the board’s decision. Director Fisher said he personally read hundreds of responses and credited them for shaping the final choice.
Why it matters: A superintendent sets district priorities and oversees operations, academics and staff. The board said Dr. Wenzel will begin work under the terms the board will finalize with him and that the district appreciated broad community involvement in the search.
The announcement was made during the communications portion of the meeting and did not include a formal roll‑call vote at that time.
