The Enumclaw School Board voted May 18 to name the district's new elementary campus 'Elementary School No. 6' and adopt the mascot 'Evergreen Trail Blazers,' the chair announced at the meeting.
Director Fisher moved to adopt the name and mascot, and Director Stouffer seconded the motion. The board approved the recommendation by voice vote after a brief comment period. The chair and board members thanked the naming committee, which the chair said reviewed more than 250 suggested names, and singled out Mr. Beals for leading the process.
Board members described the naming process as community driven, noting analytics and committee review guided the final list of three recommended names that the board considered. The chair made a lighthearted comment that a suggested 'Avengers' name did not make the final cut.
Why it matters: The name and mascot will be used for signage, school identity and branding, and will be incorporated into school materials ahead of the new campus opening. The board’s approval moves district staff toward implementing the chosen name and mascot in communications and facilities planning.
Next steps: District staff will complete the administrative steps to finalize signage and related branding for the new school.
