Roxboro council approved a developer participation agreement that lets the developer of the Boulder Creek subdivision pay for a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) the city will purchase and install on the water system.
Staff said the PRV (estimated at about $50,500 per the engineer’s appendix) is required to protect lower-pressure distribution lines that will be tied to the development’s higher-pressure supply. Under the agreement the developer pays the cost for the device, the city installs it on the municipal system and then the city assumes long-term maintenance and liability.
Council approved the agreement by voice vote. Staff said the PRV was a condition of subdivision approval and the approach mirrors previous participation agreements used for off-site utility improvements.
What happens next: City staff will coordinate purchase and installation and the developer will remit payment under the terms of the agreement.
