Council hears year‑end budget briefing, delays FY25/26 amendment hearing to June 23

City finance staff presented a year‑end budget review at the June 9 Moab City Council meeting, reporting that general‑fund revenues are projected to exceed expenses by roughly 8.3% (about $1.6 million) and that capital improvement spending was approximately $7.5 million of a $9.5 million CIP budget for the year.
The presentation said tourism‑related taxes — resort community tax, sales tax and transient room tax — are running about 6–7% higher than the prior year through the most recent collections, but staff cautioned that one final June collection will complete the comparison. The recreation fund is near budgeted levels and the housing fund may require attention pending collection of expected hotel‑related Wahoo payments, which staff said are likely to arrive next fiscal year.
Because an amended agenda and related materials were not ready, the council postponed the public hearing and consideration of Resolution 10‑2026, a FY25/26 budget amendment, to the June 23 meeting. Caitlyn moved to postpone, Miles seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said they will confirm whether a budget amendment is required after consulting with the city's CPAs and close review of the recreation and housing funds; if needed, a public hearing and formal vote will be scheduled at the next meeting.
