Supervisors consider shared Public Health leadership with neighboring Guthrie County

Adair County supervisors discussed options to maintain Public Health services at their May 20 meeting after the local hospital indicated it no longer wished to house the department. Supervisor Hoadley said she had spoken with Jotham Arber, Guthrie County/Adair County Environmental Health/Public Health Director, who may be willing to temporarily oversee local operations and help the county identify needed resources. Arber was expected to attend the next meeting to continue the conversation.
Supervisors raised several concerns: Supervisor Wedemeyer said the position requires at least a Registered Nurse (RN) as a minimum qualification; the board discussed funding for a full-time director, potential office locations in Greenfield or Fontanelle, and the possibility of partnering with Guthrie County for services. Supervisor Baier recommended a clear job description before advertising the position.
