Northfield Select Board approves routine licenses, awards dam-removal contract and sets bridge weight restrictions

The Northfield Select Board handled a series of municipal actions at its meeting. The board approved liquor-license renewals for Norwich University venues, Manny’s Deli & Cafe (including an outside-consumption permit discussed for ADA access), and South Village Mobile (TK Ventures). Members also approved minutes of May 26, 2026, and several warrants and payroll groups presented by staff.
On capital projects, the board voted to award the Cross Brothers dam removal contract to Tetro Construction after evaluating bids for experience and schedule, and it approved a capital expense note of $90,986 at 4.59% to finance a fire tanker. Staff reported the Cheney Farm water-tank project is complete and that other water-main work continues.
The board approved proposed ambulance-service rates to take effect July 1, 2026, and approved the manager as the town’s authorized representative for the Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund. Following an engineering memo, the board authorized the manager to post emergency vehicle weight limits on Town Bridge 56 (single axle 4 tons, tandem 9 tons, gross 13 tons) because of steel-beam deterioration; staff will notify the state and affected residents.
The board also voted to change its regular meeting start time from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., effective June 23, 2026.
