District reports year-end gains in local assessments, plans shift from I‑Ready to K12 benchmarks

Presenter Mr. Ruts said K–3 DIBBLES scores were above national end-of-year benchmarks and that the district saw notable movement on I‑Ready diagnostics: a 29% increase in Tier 1 reading for K–8 students (described as roughly 1,000 students or about 40 classrooms moving into Tier 1) and 35% of K–8 students moving into Tier 1 in math (about 1,200 students or roughly 48 classrooms). He added that average student growth on I‑Ready was 133% of projected annual typical growth in reading and 108% in math.
Officials also said they will phase out I‑Ready and move to K12 diagnostics for K–10 students, adding science and social studies benchmarks to the district's local assessment program. The presentation noted an operational change: grade 8 Algebra I students (about 100–110 students) were excluded from the local I‑Ready administration this year to avoid excessive testing in a short window; the district plans to exempt that group from future local assessments.
The committee did not take formal action on assessment policy during the meeting; staff said these changes would be reflected in forthcoming assessment calendars and presented at the June 23 full board meeting.
