The Vincennes Community School Corp. board approved the consent agenda at its June meeting, which included the hiring of two second-grade teachers.
Mr. Connor introduced Morgan Flynn, saying she is "born and raised" in Knox County, has taught at Rosa Parks Kindergarten Academy for the past four years and is returning to the area with her husband, Dylan Flynn. Flynn told the board, "I'm excited to be back in the area and I'm excited to go to second grade."
The board also introduced Charlie Schultz, described by the presenter as a South Knox graduate and a former special-education paraprofessional in the district. The presenter said Schultz stepped into multiple roles, co-sponsored an extracurricular program with a colleague and will take over the second-grade position from "Miss Wild." Schultz said, "I just want to say thank you for this opportunity and I'm super excited to start my first year of teaching."
Board members welcomed the new teachers and encouraged collaboration between the two second-grade hires. The approvals were part of the consent agenda the board accepted without extended discussion.
The meeting continued to a second-reading policy item and other routine business.
