City planning staff outline new rezonings, site plans and ratify sale of 805 Court Street
Summary
City planning staff told the Physical Development Committee they have received multiple rezoning and site-plan applications — including a 1.1-acre rezoning on Edgewood Avenue, a four-story mixed-use building on Fort Avenue, and an addition to Jubilee Family Development Center — and the committee voted to ratify the prior sale of 805 Court Street.

City planning staff briefed the Physical Development Committee on June 9 on a set of pending land-use applications and housekeeping items, and the committee approved a ratification related to a recent sale.
Mr. Martin, the planning presenter, listed several applications now under review: a rezoning request for 1.1 acres on Edgewood Avenue to allow a commercial roofing business; an addition to the Jubilee Family Development Center at 1516 Florida Avenue; a proposed four-story, 22,382-square-foot mixed-use building at 5900 and 5906 Fort Avenue; a mixed-use retail and daycare proposal at 1000 Rosedale Boulevard; a conditional-use permit to convert 802 Court Street into four apartments; and a rezoning application for 533 Leesville Road to authorize office uses. He also noted a phase 2 site plan submitted for the Dunar Community Schoolyard with sidewalks, dumpster enclosures, a gazebo and tennis-court updates.
Committee members sought clarifying details about the rezoning requests; staff said they would circulate additional materials on the Leesville Road application and other items before the public hearing.
The committee then considered ratifying the sale of 805 Court Street (the former West building on Court Street). Staff explained the council had approved the sale on May 12 but a later consent-agenda procedure left additional formalities. A motion to ratify carried in committee.
Procedural next steps: several items the committee discussed will go to public hearing on June 23. The committee asked staff to provide maps and additional project detail in advance of those hearings.
